3 Business English Terms That You Should Know

Or you should at least know what they mean and how they are used, in case you hear them in ‘businessy’ conversations!

A lot of people get angry over the use of various business phrases. Business jargon is often disliked as it’s perceived as vague or pompous. However many terms have become standard and if you are using English professionally you should be aware of how they are used so that you can follow conversations or business pitches without having to go on google!

So here are 3 of the more advanced terms, what they mean and how to use them.

Paradigm Shift

Meaning: A fundamental change (shift) in the patterns of work or models (paradigm) in an industry or organisation.

Example of it: An example of a paradigm shift would be the change for traditional retail shops to online shopping. Instead of the customer going to the shop. The product is delivered to the customer.

Sentence: The introduction of smartphones and mobile technology has caused a paradigm shift in the way people interact.
